The child in question was a product of rape, and “Jane Roe” did not want to hold with her the harsh reminder of what had occurred to her. Texas granted her an injunction, but they kept the law forbidding women to have abortions. “Jane Roe” and her attorneys Linda Coffee and Sarah Weddington appealed the case and took it to the Supreme Court.
